Why Prayer Is So Important
“Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God, or the requesting of things from God.” Prayer, then, is a matter of our relationship with God. It is the way in which we deepen our knowing God. As we learn in the Bible, prayer is a key part of the faith from the very beginning, to Jesus teaching us The Lord’s Prayer, right up to the prayers we say today.
Below you will find some prayers that will help you in your prayer life.
Morning Offering
The Morning Offering is a prayer to say at the start of your day. This is a wonderful prayer as it turns everything you do during the day into a prayer or offering to God as you are offering every action and thought, be they good or difficult. Fr Martin encourages us all to say this at the start of every day.
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart
in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world,
for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians,
and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month.
Amen.
